Welcome to my fitness journey. I’m a Mother of three daughters & one son. My youngest is a High School senior so I realize my life is about to shift in a new direction in a matter of months. Throughout my children participation in various sports I’ve been the Mom who improvise and snuck in a walk or run during their practice.
Going through a break-up I decided to focus on me physically, mentally and spiritually. I learned to squeeze my me time in as little as fifteen minutes at a time. I gradually increased my me time. Believe me I was a busy single parent with very active children. I made time for me in an effort to continually show up mentally as well as physically for my children with love.
Six years ago I was introduced to a movement that has made me take a closer look at my self-care over all. Girltrek is an inspiring health movement for black women and girls. Joining Girltrek as an Organizer has opened my eyes to the need for self-care.
Self-care includes getting active for 30 minutes a day for at least five days of the week. You will be surprised how a walk may heal your body physically as well as mentally. I personally enjoy a good walk alone as well as with other inspiring women. I have added to my journey running, cycling, hiking, strenth training, yoga, pilates and dancing.
There’s not a large presence of brown faces in green places. I often get questioned when out on a hike as if it’s shocking to see me. People want to know how much I know about what I’m doing. Thanks to Girltrek I’m a graduate of NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) as well as Sierra Club. Leading hikes and looking at nature through fresh lens of others brings me great joy.
For all of my outdoor problems, Plutten Outdoor World has a solution that I can trust. Plutten Outdoor World gives back to veterans as they transition to civilian life. As a former military spouse this is a cause near and dear to my heart. Get 15%off when you use D12KNOW
